Nemedian Cursecaller armor has black and blue gem slots.
What should i put in?
Since it's level 78/79 i guess i cant use level 80 gems. Right?
Black:
Do 'Tourmaline of Black Flame' 's 'Procs on self - Elect (4m - upto 12 targets, every 3s, total 9.1s))' scale with Fire damage rating?
Or should i use 'Igneous Marquise Jet' for 24.5 Magic Damage (Fire)'?
Or 'Scything Marquise Jet' for 102 Combat Rating (2HE)
Blue:
'Igneous Oblique Aquamarine' for 24.5 Magic Damage (Fire)?

No you can't use level 80 gems on anything below lvl 80 ... gems scale upwards (so a lvl 40 gem increase in strength of you put it into a lvl 75-79 (toer 9) item when compared to a lvl 40-49 (tier 5) item) but not downwards.

with that proc gem .. I don't know of that scales with fire damage or not. At present I would guess not, but it's usefulness probably would depend on how often it is applied. ... maybe Lyss could give that a try, if his HoX is on TestLive.

Lyss or Tafale ... probably have better idea about usefulness of various gems:

The other gems ... blue is probably a given ... except of you would want to put a +Int gem in ... as that affects mana, mana regen, and magic damage for mages ... to a lesser degree then 'pure' gems ... but depending on how many gem slots you got it might be worthwhile thinking about.

for the black ones ... hmm ... probably a good mix between both, specifically as you got +magic damage (fire) on blue ones as well. But it depends abit how much damage you get from physical attacks (combat rating (2HE)) and how much of your damage is magic fire based. for that I don't play my lvl 25 HoX that often :/


So I hope Lyss or Tafale can give some better insight into it.

I'd say, if you intend to go Avatar (the HoX melee tree) go with Combat Rating (Fire); if you go Possession (HoX Demo wannabe tree), go with +Magic Damage (Fire).
I'm not sure about the proc rate on that other gem, but what kind of proc are we talking about: on taking damage or doing damage? On taking damage is only useful in pvp imo.

Combat Rating (fire) .. this is a red gem so (CR (fire) doesn't exist with black and blue .. afaik):
Searing Oblique Fiery Amber: lvl 60 (tier7) Combat Rat. (Fire) ... at Tier 9: +94

so in this case probably more CR(1hE) Lyss?

it says "chance of getting damage" in the gem description:

From what I've seen, the co-efficients on the proc dmg gems is low so any magic damage has minimal (if any) affect...in fact, it's not even worth considering them

+ X Damage adds X Damage to each fire based spell and each fire based combo?
+ Y Combat Rating (Fire) would add about "Y/35" Fire damage to each physical attack and combo?

35 is about the relation between Rating and Effect in my Attributes/Combat window.
The "35" leads to another question: Is there a weapon delay? Or: Are there other ratios than my "35" for my 2HE?
