Shard Farm

Postby Tjan » 29 Apr 2011, 02:32

I am very interested in being able to craft the soldiers haversack, and even eventually the Commanders haversack at renown 20. I would also like to try and get an IBIS sword. I am unfortunately quite poor so it seems to me that a shard farm would be a good way to gather the required shards. Have BoA ever done this before. Could we start a weekly farm?
Ideas, nominations, discussion all welcome

Shard Farm

We did contemplated them at one point, but we never really did a shard farm run (aka not kill the last boss in Wing 1) and do 2 or 3 Wing 1 clearances (or so). Partially because of time, Khitai and the need to have a enough to kill the first 2 bosses but without some people from Global.

Usually at least 1 Shard in a given Wing 1 run is for Guild usage and gets added to Guild Storage.

However if people are interested we can look at it again and see if it is feasible to do some farming ...

There is a run setup this Wednesday (finishing W1 on Sunday) to allow farming for shards - we won't do the farm runs ourselves but given a 4-5 ppl can farm (1 Tank + lots of dps) I can't see it being needed as long as people are fair about the shard looting.

I will use the signup rates for this run as a gauge for how many people are interested - if it's low then it's unlikely to be a regular feature.

Shard Farm

Done quite a few runs of shard farms this week.
The instances resets after 15 minutes. It may be a little less but 15 mins worked for us.
Each group member should NOT have already completed W1 in that week. (Tue - Mon night). The Raid leader should have been on the original shard farm setup raid ( that killed Yaremka (2nd boss) but leaves the 3rd boss alive, or should have been on a subsequent shard farm run and been bound as the raid leader had been.
A group of 7 worked for us. 2 tanks with good miti, 1 heal and 4 dps. There are a few spot where careful pulls are required.
More will be quicker but then more people to share the dropped shards.
Good tanks and high dps are essential.
Do not go into the final room as you will be swamped with snakes.
We had 3 shards drop one run, but the average seemed about 1.5 per run.
Agree before hand with your group how the shards will be assigned. Will each person need for shards and then pass once they have one and u do runs until all have a shard? Will they be held by and banker and sold and the profit split? etc.

I had fun and I got a shard so I look forwards to doing more farm runs with you all in the coming weeks,

Have fun,

If we do these in the future we need some ground rules:

- do not take anyone from outside the guild; we lost our run tonight as there was a House of Uncommons group in there farming .

- if you sign up for the opening run, sign up for the closing run as well otherwise there isn't much point us offering the runs.

Oh well - had to log as had unexpected visitors again :(

Hopefully some more shards drop but we do need ppl signing up more if we do more runs like this...not signing up will indicate a low interest in doing the run...

Just to re-iterate for those new to the guild and who come for the runs - especially the first part, any instance we open is solely for the use of the guild and should not take anyone outside the guild as it has caused problems before.
