POST 1.05.1 PATCH Brute specs

Postby Azuria » 17 Sep 2009, 11:17

Hi again translated for you.

Post 2 brute specs here, one 2h semi DPS/offtank and one pure offtank/survival

2H DPS:
http://aoc.yg.com/feat-planner?class=22 ... 23,4013-21

2H OFFTANK SOM ALDRIG KAN DÖ:
http://aoc.yg.com/feat-planner?class=22 ... 21,4007-23

-The whole DPS potential in Brute is built aroud feats that increase your crit rating. With 2h dps spec I have in principal permanently 20 -25 % crit chance in combat. With Lumbering Hulk+Colossus+Volcanic Rage+Heroic Call+ 10 FI stacks (goes quick with Angel of Fury) you will in addition get +101% weapon damage. Furious Inspiration is really good, spamming HOFS V will give most dps over time as well.

-When u slot both feats u appear almost indestructable, unless Yaremka hits u in frenzy stance with enrage. Both has 2 min CD. Blessed Conquest is 6 sec of total invulnerability, Overcome the odds is 12 sec where ALL physical attacks triggers a heal of about 1200(can even crit).

The tanks spec is built up around damage shield damage from Guard of Dancing Steel. If u take all those feats u do respectable dmg and it has a really high proc rate.

Best regards
Az

Here are some nice tank builds:

1) For boss tanking. Tried on any boss ingame 6 man and also in raids @ champion of Honorguard and it went pretty well
But is duable with decent gear thou*

http://aoc.yg.com/feat-planner?class=22 ... 21,4003-23

2) For multiple mobs tanking :

Worth mentioning that since as conq we don't have any mass taunts abb. specific to conqueror the huge retribution damage we ahve is the secret of tanking multiple enemies (melle ones) and the key is that as long as they hit us they get damage back and ensures the agro gain

Here is the build for that:

http://aoc.yg.com/feat-planner?class=22 ... 21,4003-23

3) PvP wise for tank in minigames the 1st build can go aswell

4) Dps wise both PvP and PvE a decent build should look like this:

http://aoc.yg.com/feat-planner?class=22 ... 23,4013-21

Hope this helps :)

Some interesting builds there Pure :) Both tank builds are quite different from the one i'm using atm, but could be fun too try something like that as well.

Retaliation is actually a good conq spesific mass taunt ability, as it does not only return damage, but also generates a large amount of hate on nearby enemies. Restricted to 4 though.. but still very nice :)

Currently I use this brute build on my conq alt. Had left Stone Skin out, for the sake of full Sustained Rage, which (combined with Lumbering Hulk) seems to be working pretty well, concerning fast aggro generation.

While I'm generally a fan of "if it works, leave it like it is", I'm thinking of changing into something like this. I'm stripping points from Sustained Rage and Lifesaver to invest them on Stone Skin & Burst of Aggression.

Any opinions?

Stone Skin is good for AB/Imp fight and will also be very handy for T3 raids - esp as there are at least 2 boss fights which are quite caster heavy (esp the first one). Also not sure about Hateful Strikes from a Conq point-of-view; on a DT I'd stick with Sustained Rage for the increased hate from both dps and lifetaps...

Hmm... in that case, i'd have to strip Lifesaver (General) and Angel of Fury (Brute), to rack Stone Skin up to the 4th rank. Then, it'd be a matter of final choice to leave it like it is, or sacrifice 1 pt from Sustained Rage, in order to max Stone Skin out. This would be the end result.

Edit: After testing the build on a Wing1 run last night and after a little experimentation on TL this morning, I finalized the build into this one. Took out a point from Stone Skin and placed it on Angel of Fury. 2 x Energetic Bands (rings) and 1 Eye of the Watcher (necklace) will propably be required to boost his DPS a tad more.

Here is my conquage build. i tanked pretty much anything with that, including Chatha, t3 mobs, Hathor kha and Arbanus.

http://aoc.yg.com/feat-planner?class=22 ... 25,4005-25

As you see, no protection at all, so if you don't have any protection gear and you try to tank a caster boss, well, you'll try.
Furious strike full feated, not really for the hail of furious strike spamming, but because of the +275 crit rating given by the buff, which is triggered pretty much all the time.
Devastate and power feint full feated. Feint and batter aside are worth using it, those combos deal massive dps, abble to reach 2K dmgs. For a tank it's not really weak.
At death's door full feated. it's useless 95% of the time, very true, but when you pull 6-8 mobs in instance, it's just a life saver. I know, clever people don't pull 6 mobs at a time, but i've never said this was a clever build used by a clever person.
Improved furious inspiration, just 1 point, because i can't spend more but it's really worth imo for the hp you give to the person you battle rez. Plus the +10% crit on guard of dancing steel, which can reach 30% crit chance with furious strike.

That's the problem with the brute tree, too many good things.

Update

The guard of dancing steel combos seems to stop giving the +3% hate buff, which means you can't anymore count on that bonus which was giving the conq an excellent aggro.
So another orientation for the build, with more protection and aggro abilities. more efficient against casters, less against melees.

http://aoc.yg.com/feat-planner?class=22 ... 21,4015-21

And my favourite one atm
http://aoc.yg.com/feat-planner?class=22 ... 21,4015-21

Improved fusious inspiration, 1 point. that's the minimum as if you rez a tank he'll be up with 25% of his HP, so the time needed for him to get back in the aggro list, he'll be full hp, hopefully. And he can also survive a nuke with that health.

After my recent ventures into TAS, I started seeking out ways to have maximum armor/protection, along with Cunning Deflection, better Aggro Generation and still resemble a Conqueror (see Improved Furious Inspiration)

In short, I've been thinking about something like this.

A good alternative would be to ditch Improved Retaliation and go Power Feint, effectively changing the above build, into this one.

On both builds, I still have my concerns about keeping Goad, instead of going full Hateful Strikes. Also, and since I haven't tried either of them in action yet, I don't know how would they work in an aggro rotation situation (wouldn't like to have a boss, stuck on me until I go down).

Modified the first build and tried full hateful strikes last night in RotGS beta: It did exactly what i thought it would. Along with Burst of Aggression, I generated 30% more hate in total (10% from BoA & 20% from HS) and locked targets on me, regardless of the fact that I was wearing the Stoneheart Set -not the T2. This is good for saving a fellow soldier from going down -just don't overdo it and end up down yourself.

This morning, I took a reading too: Acheronian Set, with full Stone Skin and Retribution, raises total magic mitigation to 43%. Haven't seen the stats of the complete Xiba Full Plate Set yet, but I expect it to go a bit higher.

I still want to see how things would be if I kept 2 points in HS to keep Goad, which I value too much to abandon. Also, as much as I'd die to feat Furious Strikes like Mel did, I can't ignore the fact that a fully feated Furious Inspiration essentially sends a dead player back to battle in full hp. I just can't leave that either...

Nice experiments about the protection.

A conq in xiba protection set can reach 45-50% protection with retribution and stone skin feated.
As the set from xiba gives around 150 protection for each piece, which is slightly stronger than any other piece of armor, plus the fact that it gives strength and hate, where the stoneheart gives only HP with constitution.

Plus, instead of using the 2HE the conq use usually, you may want to switch to dual weild with crafted swords with protection gems in it. For exemple the flawless edge, lvl80 weapon with white slot, which gives +str and +taunt.
