Last evening with the first group to AF in 1.05 I discovered a small problem with my necro. The problem was "MANA". Does the other necro,s aware the same problem as I have ??
I consider to try out an other feat build today to check that out. If I am correct, some intelligence gems will give me some more mana and will look on AH to get some (+ intel) gems and beware that our culture set isn't lvl 80 gear and will get NOT the T10 +20 intel.

Mana
Dd ... Mana is in general problem with mages. So it is to some degree also a bit on which spells you use. AoE spells seem to be a problem for me. I did some SH runs and only really had problems when I used a lot of AoE spells in quick sucession or without combat breaks.
IN terms of gems ... I got plenty of gems Dd and with the NEW system it is not a random process, therefore I can make them to Order. Have a look on the crafting section "Gems on Test Live". They are the same as on life ... so let me (or Lyss :p) know which one you would like. Just remember the 'blue named' gems are from dropped recipe so we can't make them at present. But +INt gems are basic gems ... so there shouldn't be any problems.
The potion to dissolve gems is probably at present very very very expensive. We got someone in the Guild who got the recipe (which drops in Xiba), but not sure what you need beside Aqua regia (which I got some in storage). So you might need to buy that potion ... but it is also fairly easy to use. At least it was on TL when I tried it.

Mana
The changed the mana costs ... iirc .. it is a percentage of you mana that they use. So they give you a fixed mana amount when you check your spells.
Never had mana problems before either ... could go full-out SW, etc and not dent my mana supply much. Oki SW could bring it down but it took quite a while. Compared to my Ranger who run out of Stamina fairly quickly and I had to be a lot more careful. I guess it makes sense to tone the mana cost for mages so they just can't spam AoEs and nuke all the time like they basically could in 1.04.
The thing is now e have to be a bit more carefull what spell to use when .. Spell rotation (I used AoE spells fairly generous, which I can't anymore
) just becomes more important and not just for the damage but also for mana preserving. THere are some feats & spells and feated spells that can give some small amount of mana back

You need Ebony Venom as well iirc - drops from Snakes on pyramid top in the centre of the Purple lotus, Scorpions in Poitain (near windmill), Spiders in Frozen swamp.

Mana
Snakes at the pyramid in PLS is the best place by the looks of it - Frost Swamp and Poitain are lower drop rates...it also drops in Kheshetta and AF off humanoid mobs but even lower drop rate.

if they haven't changed the recipe .. it seems to be the following:

I got that from the following thread from the US forums:

Added: I got some Ebony Venom

Mana
Look at the name of this topic : its called MANA not recipies....
But it seems I have solved my mana problems in raids. I have change my feat build a little to get more mana in the fight and it works.
Even the SW bug is removed from my char and i can do some SW in fights and that gives a nice result in my damage according the last 2 fights in BRC "trash".
Ofcourse its gives a better view if we do a complete raid with bosses...(will be continue).

Blame Alb
Had some serious mana issues on my PoM on an AF run a few days ago, actually found myself needing the sw mana tap buff instead of the damage buff. Lance of Mitra and Wave of Life are still costly (was much worse on TL tho); ah well, adds a little more depth and skill I guess

Haven't really done enough with my necro yet to see if I got any mana problems. But I guess I will have problems at present to some degree ...

Mana
Not experience any mana problems on lil' ol' Narcmer - but I can see if ppl treat the Necro as they did before 1.05 they will have problems...Dalluh has had a few problems with mana but that's when going all out and can always use the Pact to renew mana so she's happy
