I don't know if this is just how it works with my DT, but it's seldom that hits from any mob in T3 drain my mana. It goes straight for my health pool and my mana bar doesn't budge with the exception of when I'm fighting the Demo brother (Weird, I can't remember his name. I guess I'm always too focused on his cast bar :P). I've always put this down to the hits I'm taking being greater than Soul Barriers ability to mitigate and so it bypasses Soul Barrier completely and hits my health instead. Maybe I'm talking out my backside though.
But my point is that because of this my mana is practically full all the time, so in that situation what use is an ability like Soul Infusion? Can't fill it up more than 100% after all....
Saying that, it's only 1 feat point and easy to pick up too. Its certainly likely to prove useful in open world play and along with abilities like Crystallised Ether and Ether Reap would suit someone who doesn't want to have to micro manage their mana.

/kyn-sae//the type of damage is like the CR gems (holy unholy etc..) sometimes mobs deal those types and stuck in protection of yrs.. unholy = stuck to protection so you get those trigers from Coi ...hoxs fire lance combo = fire damage even if is melee..mobs white hits are normal damage,,combos can be finis as magik.. mobs have dbufs,bufs and combos that end against yr protection i gues :P bt is so mess in the end..
as for builds max yr tanking and damage recive and play with gear only as dt and you can dps or tank proper ..you will never get what is best from builds since ppl play and have other styles or gear..i dont like many of those feats in builds,and i say prove me that i am wrong in game.. bt i can say more about a specc, only to add basic feats rest are to what ppl prefer and i respect them when they know why

i agre in some points with anti..and i say if you have a high amound or resists(mitigation or protection) you have less amound of mana lose..plus you have more mana loss when you get fast hits and not big slow ones so 1 point is not that must 4 now at list

DT spec discussion - Tjan spec and some changes
I know of course that some mobs and combos do magic damage or from cr on gear as well. Wasnt sure though if this counted as magic/spell damage with regards to proc on soul infusion or CoI.
Cry of havoc for instance is classed as spell damage though it registers as slashing damage, same with reckoning.

The only way SB can be bypassed is by having no mana; it will always absorb damage whilst you have mana...there are 3 main bosses that do this for me - Demo boss, Gyas and Keeper - of which 2 do magic damage. It's odd you don't see your mana dropping - either not using PoM as well or SB isn't on as your mana should be going up and down
@ Tjan - Soul Infusion returns 10% of mana every 10 seconds when hit with a hostile spell...that's why it's important to have magic damage flying around
