Current build used on Gert: Off-tank build

Works well as an off-tank in raids and as main tank in places like AF

I just love Blood Pact. In hindsight I should've put the points from Cabalistic Hunger into Crystallized Ether, but it's a nice build and Blood Pact can really make a difference.

Focus is on dps, with offtank support from stuns and pet.

Feel free to flame and especially suggestions are most welcome, since I'm a noob when it comes to dpsing with the DT

Key DPS feats for the DT are covered - would go with Approach of Death as well if you can get that in. Volcanic Rage + the top 2 MB will do a nice amount of spike dmg - esp in Frenzy...

Stuns will do dmg on mobs even if they can't be CC'ed so they can be used - not sure what the dmg is like but it should add a bit.

Only off-tank solution you have is the pet; in raids I'd use you more as backup add tank rather than an off-tank - wolf tanking would probably be a good role due to the CC and pet but it's not a Priest tank You're also losing some team support functionality but should be minimal affect due to most of the team stuff being crap

What talisman you going to use? Ones I was looking at when I was contemplating TM were Talisman of Death, Soulharrow or Ghostbreath...

I have a stack of Ghostbreaths but Soulharrow is the best out of those three imo. Where do you get it?

YG has it as "Dropped by Warlord Repadis in Xibaluku." - does seem the nicest DT talisman outside of raid drops

hmm, been doing some thinking again and I think I'll go with Improved Soul Covenants instead of Volcanic Rage. Makes me able to get Corruption and Approach of Death as well.

Nicer build - esp with the Imp Dread Fury giving 1.5% magic tap...still not a main o/t build but dps looks good on paper

After seeing you in K, I'd prefer a DT who can tank and do some DPS over pure DPS who would as soon as die as they are looked at...there are other classes who can DPS but not tank...

Maybe just me

1.05 should give DTs this option

IMO the only Soldier class who should be in Frenzy in raids is the DW Conq; Polearm Conqs and DPS DTs can go frenzy in PvP but for raids they should be spanked for even looking at the Frenzy button

I had fun tho, was just looking for another challenge. I did outdps all other melee classes so that was good to see Reason I was looking for a new challenge was that outdpsing/performing everything on the same classes (barb, hox and pom) gets boring after a while

So, I'll respec the DT to a proper tank build next time anyone outdpses my hox Maybe Taf's up for the task
I just like to keep learning/testing new things to keep things interesting.

I can out-DPS your HoX on the Demo or ToS (if I have 2-3 necros with all 8 pets out - just would create too much aggro

Hmm yeah, sigh, the dps-build was fun while it lasted but being able to tank at least the Priest is better than dps as a DT.

Something like this looks like a decent hybrid tank/dps build. And yes it has a stun, dunno, I can't stand the lack of cc of a pure Desecration build

I'd really view that dps build as a PvP build - looks fun but doesn't seem to fit in with raids (esp when we're low on soldiers on the alt runs )...as you say, a DT should be able to survive tanking the Priest in KC (in 1.04 at least ) with basic T0 gear...

Volcanic Rage is really good with Mystical Bane (esp feated) for DPS so might be worth seeing if you can fit that in somehow...esp if you change to Frenzy before unleashing it.
