Custom UIs

Postby Atkara » 13 May 2010, 12:31

Since there has been some talk about Custom UIs during the last couple of days, I decided to make a general list of what's out there and what's been updated to support (RotGS)

The following 5 UIs have been already updated:

The following 2 are waiting for their author* (he's maintaining them both) to update them:
*This guy, nicked truimagz, has actually put together this webpage, which actually enables you to customize the elements placement/style of either of those 2, even mix elements of those 2 UIs together, then assemble the final package & download it. A quite clever move, I must say

Those 2 nice UIs seem to be abandoned forever by their authors...

You can also find more UIs & addons in Curse Forge's AoC section. But always be careful to check if they're updated to support v.2.0 (RotGS)

Custom UIs

There also are 2 main tools, concerning Custom UIs.

  • AoC UI Installer:This one, takes UI packages, as they're downloaded from Curse Forge and installs them to the corresponding AoC folder. It also has many options, UI version synchronization being one of them.
  • By Crom: An old & simple tool, that simply hasn't gotten old yet ;)

One important thing: Age of Conan auto-generates a backup (.bxml) of any xml file it finds into it's installation folder, including stock & custom UI xmls. There have been known cases, where players had problems with their custom UIs, because the old bxml files were still present. So, it's imperative to purge all .bxml files, every time you perform a UI version update, or even whenever you feel like messing around with your custom UI.

You also have AOC QS.NET - this can auto-update the UIs versioning and delete .bxmls (among other things :))

ah that one ... wasn't aware it updates UIs as well. I used to use it a few month back mainly for the quick start (don't have it installed at present so)

I use Fire UI. It takes time to get use to it, but I think it's really good.

Here is 2 pictures, one with a target's target and the other with the inventory open.
