So, a lot of time passed since we've had any interesting, constructive talks here about our class...

Now we've got this AA system and perks need to be taken into consideration when doing the builds...

i just got red shadows this week, and, after some talks with Amino, I've decided to try out an experimental build that should make the most of red shadows, which basically reduces everything down to being in demon form for as long as possible.

my main problem recently has been having to switch from avatar based(best for khitai solo) to possession based(best for raid, instances). In theory, this build should allow me to do everything, without having to respec...

couple of explanations...

1. the main dps still comes from magic... hfb, btd, inferno/FL, pillars (hence the reduction), now buffed by DS and Avatar
2. Roots of Hell are there just for Khitai mobs that like to kb. For a pure raid build, use them else where (3 from roots + 2 from vengeance should go into spitfire really...).

To further improve on this build, I will focus on HfB perk, DE reduction perk BtD dots perk, and Pillars reduction perk.

I suspect many HoXen have been round the cycle of starting as Avatar/Possession, changing to Possession/General after the 1.05 patch for best raid DPS and then Avatar/Possession again to survive better in Khitai - I certainly have. With the addition of AAs, I've found the Avatar/Possession hybrid build to be at least as effective in raids as Possession/General.

From memory, this is very close to my build apart from one of the tweaks mentioned: I do have 5 points in Spitfire and no Xotli's Vengeance (a feat that makes no sense anyway as the stack is consumed on casting Hellfire Breath every few seconds) and no Roots of Hell.

There are a few other minor differences such as I don't have Phoenix Wings but do have Molten Flesh (jolly handy against certain TAS Demo mobs ...) and Damning Eloquence for the instant-cast debuff. I'll try and remember to post my build when I get home if anyone's interested.

I also use the AA Red Shadows of Xotli, stay in demon form as much as possible and focus on using Hellfire Breath,Burn to Death, Pillars of Infernal Flame and Flame Lash.

For the time being, I've settled down to this build

I favor Body & Spirit Wrack/Demonic Fortitude over Improved Fiery Weapons -the low proc rate had been always driving me away from that feat.

Been using Flaming Hatred instead of Butcher. Returned to the latter last night -feels better.

Will also post my AA map when I get back home.
