Crash on log off?

Postby Minoc » 22 Sep 2011, 20:46

Does anyone else suffer from client crash every time you want to swap toons? Log out for me is now really no longer an option, it's always quit and restart. I bought a new desktop gaming pc back in March and the spec on it is sky high... vastly superior to my 5 year old laptop, yet the laptop has no problem with crashing the client when i log out. I know Chinsin also suffers from this because he and I have talked about it before.

I'm hoping that one or more of you clever techy types will be able to help me and that it's just a case of tweaking some setting or other but any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

What's the specs of the PC? Using DX10 or 9 (or did you test 9 when we chatted?) Latest drivers for graphics & DX?

Here's my spec:

Processor (CPU) Intel® Core™i7 Six Core Processor i7-970 (3.20GHz) 6.4GTs/12MB Cache
Motherboard ASUS® P6X58D-E: DDR3, USB 3.0, SATA 6.0GB/s, 3-Way SLI
Memory (RAM) 12GB SAMSUNG DDR3 TRI-DDR3 1333MHz (3 x 4GB)
Graphics Card 1GB ATI RADEON™ HD5870 - 2 DVI,HDMI,DP - DirectX® 11, Eyefinity 3 Capable
Memory - 1st Hard Disk 120GB INTEL® X25-M SERIES SSD, SATA 3 Gb/s (upto 250MB/sR | 100MB/sW)
Power Supply CORSAIR 650W TX SERIES (TX650) 80+ ULTRA QUIET PSU
Processor Cooling COOLIT ECO A.L.C (ADVANCED LIQUID COOLER)
Sound Card Sound Blaster® X-Fi™ Titanium - Fatal1ty Professional Series
WINDOWS 7 64 BIT

I've not tried DX9 yet but tbh there is no reason why dx10 shouldn't run perfectly adequately. I will test it tonight and see if it makes any difference however. As far as I am aware the graphics driver is up to date but i really don't know about DX drivers. When i look at the website there are so many different things that 'could' apply, but i just don't understand what i would need to download to give me any update.

I've just tried DX 9 and it's exactly the same story. The other thing that i forgot to mention in my opening post was that I have a widescreen monitor and quite often when i relog after crashing, the client will start up in a different resolution. When i go to the video settings, all the settings are correct - i just have to click apply again (without changing anything) and it reverts for my usual resolution. Don't know if that's related.

its perhaps totally craizy but i believe in little and easy things : do you check how many place you have in rest in your main part of your disk where is the game ? do you have check the new udpate driver for all your extern ? Choice mozzilla for the internet and not the new *internet explorer 7*. try to do a test to start the game by the exe and not from the little shortcut icone . the lats update window 7 64 bit destroyed my icone shortcut for the game.
