Hello folks,
As a new member I want to introduce myself. I'm from Norway, 40 years old, married, 3 kids, 3 dogs, 2 birds and a cat (btw: the cat and the birds want to move out…) and work as a system developer. My playing time is somewhat limited to a few hours a week, but I try to make them as good as possible...!
I've been playing AoC since February this year after a lot of pressure from a former BoA member (and colleague of mine) Kendar (now AFJ). Before I started playing AoC my last PC game was Rayman from the late 90's… (And off course Doom …)
But after PS2 and later Ps3 come into our living room I've been stuck with consoll gaming ;-)
Kendar was talking about AoC and I wanted to try this out… and what can I say? Now my PS3 is only in use when we look at BD or DVD!!
I created a character (Heerohova - conq) and started playing, and managed to crawl myself up to level 80… with only green gear (maybe a blue ring …) I joined my first raid (Vistrix) and died… Second time I managed to survive and see Vistrix go down. Later, same thing with Kyllikky before I manage to survive this one as well… Kendar created some nice (blue) gear for me so I maybe could survive some more raids.
As you can see my raid (and group) experience is limited. As I browse through the forum and read, I can see that this is very nice guild with a lot of nice people. Kendar also have only good things to say about you and recommended that I should join this guild.
My first question would be to ask about some of the terminology and abbreviations that you use here (and in AoC in general). All of my playing in AoC up till now has been solo and I need to understand what you actually are talking about ;-)
Is there a list of these abbreviations and words that you use that will help?
These words I found in the post: "Tues 06/12 - Raid feedback"
TS, Kiting, cc, esp, AA heals, HK, RT …
Enlighten me please ;-)
See you around!
P.

Hi and welcome Heero
Most of the terms you'll pick up as you go
Kiting is probably one you won't do much on your conq - consider it the opposite of tanking (i.e. you run with the mob chasing you rather than standing and fighting); some raids have this mechanic as part of the fight (and some don't but people still do it).
There is a thread on the EU forums with some of the other commonly used abbreviations: http://forums-eu.ageofconan.com/showthread.php?t=167494 (and a more detailed one on the US forums: http://forums.ageofconan.com/showthread.php?t=148683) - hope that helps
