[T1 Tactics] Kylikki's Crypt - Champion of the Honourguard

Debuff, debuff, debuff - run around and debuff!

In 1.05, debuffs are now a major contributor to taking raid bosses down so this part applies to all raids, not just this boss.

Firstly, it's a good idea to read this thread at the EU Forums regarding the new mitigation debuffs...essentially Ruin and Wrack debuffs allow x% more damage to be taken per stack and Torment debuffs are 4% per stack.

Severities (and their stacking rules):
Ruin: -15% Invulnerability for 15 seconds. Stack by refreshing duration.
Wrack: -10% Invulnerability for 30 seconds. Stack by refreshing duration.
Torment: -250 Protection/-900 Armor for 30 seconds. Stack to 5 (for a total of -1250 Protection/-4500 Armor) and also refresh duration.

So Ruin and Wrack get refreshed by reapplying and stack once; Torments stack to 5 (~20% extra damage); which means a possible 45% debuff (or 45% extra damage) from the appropriate attacks.

Make sure you know what your class can do in terms of debuffs - and if necessary, tweak your build to allow for extra debuff oppurtunities.

Champion fight - the steps to winning

- Ranged DPS must be against the walls and ideally huddle so any heals can be applied.

- A Guardian will pull with crossbow and then fire off Irritate as he comes up the stairs. This Guardian is given 5-8 seconds to build aggro. Goad must not be used

- After these 5-8 seconds, a DT or 2nd Guardian will start attacking. Goad must not be used

- After a further 2-3 seconds, DPS can start.

- DPS'ers have to watch out for the single target debuff - if you see your health dropping for no reason, stop DPS. Any damage you are doing is being reflected back to you (and appears to hit people near your) and can kill unsuspecting people. The debuff is called Covenant of Pestilence. This is Unholy damage

- Champion will also cast a pbAoE (point-blank area of effect) damage attack called Covenant of Putrescence - this will deal more damage the more people surrounding him. This is Poison damage

- The 3rd main attack is Curse of Gwahlur - this the same as Covenant of Pestilence except it reflects damage to the whole raid and not just 1 target. This attack is normally proceeded by loud shouts of STOP DPS! on voice comms...this attack is a 10 second buff to the Champion as well when any damage done heals him. Healers should continue healing. This is Unholy damage

- At around 40%, Champion casts Sadistic Soul - this is a large pbAoE attack and can easily take even a Guardian out if not careful. The longer the Champ is up, the stronger the damage dealt gets - this is noticeable via the Sadism counter that increases at ~2-3 minute intervals. ToS's Unholy Protection skill is handy here (even if it is 6 seconds, still helps during the last 35%) followed by the BS and ToS Protection to all.

- The main Guard and second Guard/DT will need to rotate aggro as needed (normally 50-60% health on the tanking player). Both should be in feated Defensive Stance. The preferred method to change aggro is for the tank to stop attacking and the tank who wants to get aggro uses the following skills in order:

Guardians:

1) max feated Bloody Vengence + Hateful strike
2) Irritate and Cry Havoc
3) Goad
4) Goad Mob + Interecede

DTs:

1) Enraging Strikes, Brutal Enraging Strikes, Brutal Enraging Wounds
2) Irritate and Seal of Chaos
3) Goad
4) Goad Mob (if feated)

Normally 1 then 2 will get aggro...if needed Goad can then be used but only if necessary.

Goad should not be used as the first or second tier of getting aggro but should be left as a last resort.

Ideal tank group core setup:

Guardian
DT/Guardian
Conqueror with team heal feat
ToS
BS

As you can see this is not a simple tank & spank fight - people need to apply debuffs, watch their own debuff bar/health; tanks need to aggro switch efficiently and not just goad-switch.

If Conqs need to rez during this fight they need to move out of range of the Champ before doing so. If you rez at the Champ, you'll just waste the rez as the person rezzed will likely die again.
